現代社会は類似品が溢れ、多くのものが大量生産、大量消費によって使い捨てられ、良質な製品を長く大切に使うという行為が希薄になっています。

私達はこの現状に疑問を持ち、一過性のものづくりではなく恒久的なものづくりをする為にアンノウンプロダクツを設立しました。

アンノウンプロダクツのものづくりは日本の地場産業や伝統、文化、クラフトマンシップに敬意を払い、良質な製品を生み出していく事を目的とし、私たちの製品を通して日本の産業に寄与すると共に、人々の生活を少しでも豊かにしていきたいと考えています。

 

アンノウンプロダクツの製品は、革の選定や鞣し方法、染色方法、仕上げ方法等の素材選びからパーツの製造や芯材等の副資材の選定、裁断や漉き、縫製等の製作に至るまで全ての工程に一切妥協することなく製作されています。

素材は国内外のタンナーから厳選したものを仕入れ、副資材は国内でオリジナルパーツを製作し、製造は高い技術を有する日本の工場で全て行っています。

 

アンノウンプロダクツのクリエイションは、デザイナー自身が企画やデザイン、サンプル製作といった全ての工程を行い、納得したものだけを製品として発表しています。

全ての工程をデザイナーが自ら行う理由として、良質な製品を生み出すためにはデザイナー自身が企画からデザイン、生産の事までを深く理解していないといけないと考えているからです。また、生産していただく方や協力していただく方々の気持ちを理解し、対話する為でもあります。

アンノウンプロダクツの製品はお客様の手に届くまでの間に、様々な人が関わってくれています。

私たちはその方々もアンノウンプロダクツの一部だと考えており、一人称に”私たち”を使っているのはそんな想いがあるからです。

 

アンノウンプロダクツのデザインプロセスは、一般的なプロセスとは少し異なり、具体的かつ明確なコンセプト（言葉）から制作を開始します。

そして、そのコンセプトを表現するための最良な素材や形、構造、製法などを導き出し、その結果として意匠が浮かび上がってくるのです。

そのため、アンノウンプロダクツの全製品には名前が付けられており、素材や形、作りだけでなくディティールの一つ一つにも理由があります。

また、コンセプトから意匠を導き出すプロセスは、造形やイメージ、用途、製造方法等の既成概念に縛られる事なく、ゼロから製品の在り方を考えさせてくれます。

そのため、様々な視点によって生じる新たな発見や革新的なアイディア、新しいデザインが生まれます。

私たちが考えるデザインとは、一眼見てアンノウンプロダクツの製品だと認識できるような、一貫性のあるものだと考えています。

今後も、そのような製品を発表し続けていけるように日々努力していきたいと思っています。

 

 

In today's society, similar products abound, and mass production and mass consumption have led to many things being thrown away, and the act of using good things with care for a long time is becoming rare.

We questioned this status quo and founded Unknown Products in order to create permanent, rather than transient, products.

Unknown Products' manufacturing is aimed at creating quality products with respect for Japanese local industry, tradition, culture, and craftsmanship, and we hope to contribute to Japanese industry and enrich people's lives through our products.

 

Unknown Products' products are made without any compromise in all processes, from the selection of materials such as leather selection, tanning method, dyeing method, finishing method, etc., to the manufacture of parts and selection of sub-materials such as core materials, to the production of cutting, straining, sewing, etc.

Materials are carefully selected from prestigious overseas and domestic tanneries, original parts are produced in Japan for the sub-materials., and all manufacturing is done at highly skilled Japanese factories.

 

Unknown Products' creations are planned, designed, and sample production by the designers themselves, and only products that they are satisfied with are released as products.

The reason why designers are all the processes is because we believe that designers themselves must have a deep understanding of everything from planning and design to production in order to create high-quality products.It is also to understand the feelings of producers and collaborators and to talk with each other.

Various people are involved with Unknown Products' products before they reach the hands of our customers.

We consider these people to be part of Unknown Products, and that is why we use "we" in the first person.

 

Unknown Products' design process is a bit different from the typical process, as it all starts with a specific and clear concept.

Then, we derive the best materials, shapes, structures, manufacturing methods, etc. to express the concept, and the design emerges as a result.

That is why all of Unknown Products' products have names and There is a reason for each and every detail as well as the material, shape, and construction.

The process of deriving a design from a concept allows us to think from scratch about what the product should be, without being bound by preconceived notions of form, image, use, or manufacturing method.

This leads to new discoveries, innovative ideas, and new designs that arise from different perspectives.

We consider our design to be consistent, a product that is recognizable as an Unknown Products product with a single glance.
